chuck Bourdon5 StarAbout 4-5 years ago our Oakland condominium was severely
damaged as a result of a burst water main in the unit above our
own. My wife and I consulted with several contractors to rebuild
our kitchen and living room before we were introduced to Dorin
Buzatu by a mutual friend. Dorin impressed us with his creative
ideas, fair and reasonable pricing and promise of a timely
reconstruction. He did a magnificent job designing and creating
a beautiful new kitchen and restored living room at our condo.
So, last year when my wife and I decided to move back to our
family home on the coast we called upon Dorin to remodel our
kitchen and "fix" a few problems occasioned by deferred
maintenance and irresponsible tenants. We were naive. When
Dorin inspected the work site he opened our eyes to a host of
hidden issues that needed to be addressed if we were to
preserve the family home and protect the asset for years to
come. My wife and I are retired and living off our savings which
frankly didn't leave a lot of room for costly repairs. Dorin asked
us to come up with a budget and to put our heads together to
address the most pressing and important issues e.g., dry rot,
leaky roof, non existent heating system and much more. By the
time Dorin and his crew finished the project it was clear he had
created a miracle in our view (several actually). Our retirement
home is a dream come true. In the beginning, when we gave
Dorin the number we could afford, he said he'd live within the
budget and do the best he could. At every step along the way
Dorin thoroughly researched suppliers, alternative solutions to
sticky problems, hired excellent sub contractors when needed
and never asked for an extra dime. My wife and I constantly
came up with change orders, additional requests and wishes that
we had no reason to believe could come true within our budget.
Dorin's constant refrain was "we'll make it work". He and his 2
man crew virtually lived at the premises to save time and money
and produced a result way beyond our wildest expectations! In
short, he is the most skilled, knowledgable and friendliest
contractor (and now friend) one could hope for. He is thoroughly
knowledgeable in all the trades. We highly recommend Dorin for
any construction or remodeling project including landscaping (he
designed and created a beautiful garden in our backyard, built a
border tence and installed a paver driveway and large patio
among many other things.)Friday 4th August 2023
Diane Goodrich5 StarDorin Buzatu created, designed, and constructed a beautiful new bathroom for me. He is an artist and craftsman of the highest quality. He has also designed and installed new lighting in my kitchen. He and his crew are the best. I give him and his crew my highest recommendation.Monday 22nd February 2021
Susie Kamath5 StarI hired Buzatu to change three closet doors to hinged, from on sliding tracks as well as handle some other minor repairs throughout the house. Though the door project seemed simple, I knew that it was more complex and Buzato knew exactly what to do and did a superb job! It required the trim surrounding the closet opening to be removed, the opening to be widened/reframed, the doors to be cut slightly, new dummy door handles to be installed and everything re-painted and put back. The quality of Buzatu's workmanship was EXCELLENT!
And, so that you know what else they are capable of, here are some of the other tasks they did:
1.Re-installed a CA Closet system in a new closet location.
2. Re-hung a falling recessed light.
3. Installed and cemented ceramic tile on my porch which fell off.
4. Removed a wrought iron railing to get to a cracked ceramic tile. Cut a new piece from surplus materials I had on hand, rounded the flat edge to become bullnose and re-cemented the tile. This was complicated and it was done just right!
5. Removed an IKEA PAX wardrobe from my reach in closet to get to the trim inside and re-frame the opening. Then reinstalled the PAX frame within the closet.
6. Took 6 closet doors outside in the sun, made a make-shift stand so all doors would stand erect, covered the ground, fence and house with plastic and re-painted the doors. Then they cleaned everything up!
7. They noticed that one bathroom door was sticking so they unhinged the door and shaved off micro millimeters of the wood at the top which fixed the door sticking problem.
8. Raised by 7 inches, two closet clothing rods and shelves.
During these projects, they frequently vacuumed the areas that were worked on with their large vac.Friday 14th January 2022
